The attorneys here at Stacey & Jacobsen, PLLC are always on the side of the injured seaman, and never represent insurance company or employers such as Samson Tug and Barge. Our job is to make sure your rights are protected if you’ve been injured or become ill while working at sea, and to represent you if your employer is not compensating you fairly and completely. We are licensed to practice in Washington, Oregon, and Alaska, and are affiliated with maritime personal injury attorneys all over the country, so no matter where you are, if you have a case, we are positioned to help you.
In most cases, you have the right to “maintenance and cure” under general maritime law. This means that your employer must compensate you with a daily stipend similar to expenses you would have incurred on the boat, as well as cover your reasonable medical expenses until you have reached maximum medical cure.
If it turns out that you were injured as a result of negligence, you have rights under the Jones Act, which may include compensation for lost wages, pain and suffering, medical expenses, work retraining costs, and loss of enjoyment of life.
If you have been injured while working for Samson Tug and Barge, or while employed on another type of vessel, contact us for a free consultation.
